Welcome to the world of Zhalfir
With Zhalfir , one of the most storied regions in Magic history takes center stage for the first time in its own set. A richly layered fantasy world awaits, where proud realms, seasoned warriors, and spiritual forces meet.
Zhalfir gets its first standalone Magic set
Zhalfir has been an important part of the backstory of Magic: The Gathering for many years. The upcoming set now offers the first opportunity to explore the world, its inhabitants, and their cultures in depth as a setting in its own right.
A world beneath five suns
The mortal realm of Zhalfir is illuminated by five suns and seemingly knows no ordinary night. This extraordinary environment shapes the landscapes and the lives of its inhabitants, and is likely to influence the cards’ striking visual design as well.
The mysterious realm of spirits
Alongside the bright world exists a dark spirit realm where the inhabitants’ ancestors live on. But the eternal darkness holds not only protective spirits, but also dangerous creatures and previously unknown threats.
Afrofantasy at the heart of the set
Zhalfir blends classic fantasy with inspiration from various African cultures and mythologies. This gives the set a distinctive atmosphere, with expressive characters, diverse traditions, and unmistakable design.
A tumultuous history in the Magic multiverse
Originally, Zhalfir was part of the plane of Dominaria. During the first great war against Phyrexia, Teferi removed the land from ordinary time and reality to protect its people from the Invasion.
Warriors, ancestors, and ancient traditions
Zhalfir is known for its well-trained knights, mages, and defenders. In the new set, these martial traditions could play an important role, along with the inhabitants’ connection to their families, their history, and the spirits of their ancestors.
